Disney Cruise Line

Star Wars Day at Sea

July 8, 2019

This past January, we set sail on our 5th Disney Cruise but our first Star Wars Day at Sea cruise onboard the Disney Fantasy. To say the cruise was GALACTIC is an understatement. Being huge (mostly Jeff and the boys) Star Wars fans, the cruise truly transports you to a different galaxy far far away with its onboard fun, cast member involvement, and themed food!

Star Wars Day is usually a Sea Day (no port stops) and available on select 7-night cruises to the Eastern and Western Caribbean. The fun starts the night before when **SPOILER ALERT** Darth Vader and his imperial officers show up and take over the ship. After that, all the traditional Disney characters are gone until Star Wars Day is over!

Onboard Fun that requires prior reservations include

  • C-3PO and R2-D2
  • Chewbecca
  • Darth Vader
  • Trials of the Temples

At the Trials of the Temples, young Padawans are taught the ways of the force and even end up battling Darth Vader and Kylo Ren. This experience is similar to Jedi Training found at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This was Colton’s first Jedi training experience and we were so impressed with how confident he was while defecting the Dark Side.

Tip: If you are unable to book onboard fun prior to sailing, check with guest services or the activities desk once you get on board the ship. Disney Cruise Line usually saves spots for guests to book in person.

Galactic Transformations

are available for both children and adults at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. Prices are $124.99 for children (ages 3-12). and $79.99 for adults. Check out my Galactic Transformations on Star Wars Day at Sea post for more info.

The fun continues

There were numerous Star Wars photo backdrops available as well as characters roaming the ship ready for their photo op. Other fun activities include BB8 races, trivia, drawing academy, Star Wars movies, Galactic dance party with fireworks, and much more. See the navigator below for a complete schedule of all the fun!

Ezra and Sabine from Star Wars Rebels

Imperial Officers

Ahsoka Tano

Han Solo in Carbonite

And the best for last…the food!

Even the dinner menu in all the rotation dining restaurants gets a Galactic twist! You can select foods from different planets (Tatooine, Naboo, Coruscant) and the Death Star. Options include Sand People Salad, Jar Jar Binks Nyork Chowder, Lord Vader’s Nerf Steak and Qui-Gon’s Crisp Chicken to name a few.

Final thoughts

We’ve really come to enjoy themed cruises because it provides an additional layer of excitement especially with the onboard fun and character meet and greets. Our favorite part was dressing up and completely immersing ourselves in everything that is offered. Since the traditional Disney characters disappear for the day, I recommend finding time to meet as many as possible prior to Star Wars Day. Overall, we highly recommend Star Wars Day at Sea for any Star Wars fans out there!

I can’t believe how many characters you get to meet on this cruise! Maybe I can convince my hubby to go on a Star Wars Cruise one day. Thanks for all the info!
