Walt Disney World is reopening next week starting with Magic Kingdom/Animal Kingdom on 7/11 and Hollywood Studios/Epcot on 7/15. One major change is the requirement of face masks for all guests ages 2 and up while in the parks and resorts (except for dining and swimming). Being a Disney local, I know how hot it can get in the summertime and I am nervous about handling the heat with a mask on. I reached out to a few friends who have already been to other theme parks with masks, took their advice, and ordered a few things off Amazon. And now I’m sharing with you my new essentials for the reopening of Disney World!
Masks
Obviously, number 1 on the list: masks! A few of my favorite cloth ones are from Cutie Judy, Deux Par Deux, and The Happiest Maker. Many friends have also recommended the blue disposable surgical mask. While they’re not as cute they are more breathable. I will be packing both with me and switching them up throughout the day.
Since we’re on the topic of masks, my friend Susan recommended bringing extra masks (it may get wet from sweat or rain) and a reusable sandwich bag to keep the dirty masks in.
Fans
Fans are a must need for the hot summer days! I have one for each member of the family and even found a handsfree one that goes around the neck. All the fans are charged with a USB so remember to bring along a portable charger for fans and your phone!
Find different fans on my Amazon list.
Ways to keep cool
I usually use an umbrella during the summer for some shade however I found this mini UV umbrella that will be more effective to block out UV and provide much-needed shade.
I have only used cooling towels after a RunDisney race but decided to buy some for the parks. I found this multi-color pack with a carrying bag and clip off Amazon. Can’t wait to try them out!
Stay hydrated
It’s super important to stay hydrated, especially during the summer months and even more while wearing masks. You can able to remove your mask while drinking or eating in the parks so it will provide a nice break from time to time. I found this collapsible water bottle that can save space when I’m finished drinking.
You can request free cups of water from any quick service location that has a drink machine.
Final thoughts
In addition to all the new things I’ve found on Amazon, I will also be packing sunscreen, reusable straw, hats, and Mickey ears. What’s in your bag as you return to Walt Disney World?
